Community

As part of The Hills Group, Hills Quarry Products cares about the communities we work within and alongside. We recognise the importance of consulting with residents when making planning applications and keeping those communities informed of any of our activities that may affect them.

Where appropriate we will hold liaison committees with local councillors and residents, and if we can’t speak to people in person, we endeavour to publish updates about the expansion of existing quarries or the development of new sites.

Our quarries are usually operated in phases with each phase restored as we progress, keeping disruption to the flora and fauna to a minimum.

Hills Quarry Products has also won several awards for its restoration, creating new wildlife habitats that are often more biodiverse than the agricultural land they have replaced. For example, much of the Cotswold Water Park now known as Cotswold Lakes was formed from restored quarries providing an ideal location for leisure activities and nature to exist in harmony.

As part of this commitment to restoration and biodiversity Hills Quarry Products supports both Wiltshire Wildlife Trust and The Cotswolds Lakes Trust through the Landfill Community Fund and through additional volunteering and practical assistance.

Additional support is given to local communities via Community First who administer our smaller grant applications for improvements to community facilities – everything from cricket nets and skateparks to kitchens in village halls.
